Louis Da Silva, Nicholas Verway, and Larissa Wiltshire Shine in GSA E-Net Nationals

In the ongoing Guyana Squash Association (GSA) and E-net Nationals at the Georgetown Club on Camp Street, several standout performances marked day three of the tournament.

Louis Da Silva, Nicholas Verway, and Larissa Wiltshire were among the top performers, showcasing their prowess on the squash court.

The competition intensified as the tournament moved into the semi-final round, with Louis Da Silva making a strong comeback by defeating Jonathan Antczack with a convincing score of 11-5, 11-4, and 11-1.

Caribbean Under 19 champion Nicholas Verway continued his impressive form, securing a victory over Steven Xavier with scores of 11-8, 11-7, and 11-7.

In the women’s category, Larissa Wiltshire displayed her skill and determination by overcoming Kristen Gomes with a scoreline of 11-1, 11-6, and 11-7.

Additionally, Ashley Khalil emerged victorious against Taylor Fernandes-Henry with scores of 11-5, 11-8, and 11-7.

The tournament also featured notable wins in the men’s matches, with players like Peter de Groot, Regan Pollard, and Shomari Wiltshire showcasing their talent on the court.

In the women’s veterans match, Ventern Lydia Fraser demonstrated her experience and skill by defeating Tian Edwards with scores of 11-8, 11-3, and 11-6.

Deje Dias, the tournament organizer, highlighted the dedication and hard work put in by the players and the tournament committee.

With the tournament marking day eight of 12, Dias acknowledged the efforts of the GSA and the tournament committee in organizing and managing the event, which comprises approximately 95 matches over five days.

Looking ahead, Guyana is preparing to host the senior squash Caribbean Championship in August.

Dias expressed confidence in the success of the upcoming championship, citing the strong support from the squash and business communities, which has been instrumental in organizing previous events.

As the senior nationals head towards their conclusion on Thursday, March 21, the competition remains fierce, with players giving their all to secure victory in one of Guyana’s premier squash tournaments.
