Local Hockey Season Kicks Off with Bounty Farm and Antonio Grille’s Tournament

The Bounty Farm and Antonio Grille’s one-day outdoor hockey tournament is set to kick off the local hockey season, featuring male defending champions Saint’s Splinters and female title holders GBTI GCC Spartans.

The tournament, which will see all local teams competing for top honors, is anticipated to be a competitive start to the hockey calendar.

On the men’s side, Saint’s Splinters, last year’s champions with a penalty shootout victory, will be led by captain and tournament MVP Shakeem Fausette.

Old Fort, the Farfan and Mendes first division champions from the previous year, are also eager to begin the new season on a strong note.

GBTI GCC Spartans, who comfortably defeated Woodpecker Hikers last year, will be looking to maintain their dominance on the female side.

The head of the hockey board, Phillip Fernandes, expressed that this tournament marks the commencement of their calendar of activities.

Fernandes expects the teams to be in good form coming off their first division season in late 2023.

The tournament will feature other clubs, including the Pepsi Hikers and Police Hockey club, fielding both male and female teams.

The games are scheduled for Sunday at the Providence Stadium.
