Local Government Ministry’s Mash Band Highlights Waste Management

February 19, 2025

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development has launched its Mashramani float and costume band, with a focus on solid waste management as part of its campaign for cleaner communities.

The initiative aligns with this year’s Mashramani theme, “Expressing our Culture and Creativity as One Guyana,” while incorporating the Ministry’s specific message, “Cleaner Communities for a Brighter, Prosperous Guyana.”

The emphasis is on addressing improper waste disposal across the country and promoting sustainable waste management practices.

According to the Ministry, this year’s Mashramani participation is designed to highlight the importance of maintaining clean public spaces, including markets and recreational areas.

In addition to being part of the national celebration, the float and costumes will illustrate the process of waste collection and disposal, encouraging environmentally responsible behavior.

The Ministry’s Mashramani band is set to participate in the national parade on February 23, using the event as a platform to reinforce its commitment to environmental awareness and community cleanliness.
