Kaidon Persaud, a standout athlete from Linden, has been selected to represent Guyana at the upcoming World U-20 Athletics Championships, which will be held in Lima, Peru.

As the only athlete from Linden on the national team, Persaud will compete in both the men’s mixed and 4×400-meter relay events.

Persaud, who previously earned a silver medal at the Carifta Games, is set to make his debut on the global stage.

His selection is seen as a significant achievement, underscoring his dedication and rigorous training over the past year.

Track and field coach Johnny Gravesande expressed confidence in Persaud’s abilities, noting that the athlete’s extensive preparation since the beginning of the year has positioned him for success.

Gravesande anticipates a strong performance from Persaud and hopes for a gold medal outcome.

The national team is scheduled to depart Guyana on Saturday, with the World Athletics U-20 Championships running from August 27 to September 1.

The event, organized by World Athletics, will feature competitors from across the globe in the U-20 athletics age category.
