Linden Women Entrepreneurs Receive Business Training

By Shawnette Fiedtkou

Women entrepreneurs in Linden are receiving enhanced business training through the efforts of ActionINVEST CARIBBEAN INC. and the Cherie Blair Foundation, which have decentralized their Road to Growth training program to the mining town.

Twenty-one women have successfully completed the intensive seven-week “Road to Growth” training, which aims to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to run successful businesses with growth potential.

This training, facilitated by ActionINVEST CARIBBEAN INC., combines both online and face-to-face sessions to build business skills and financial literacy.

Coach Keon Smith of ActionINVEST Caribbean Inc. noted that the Road to Growth training program began in 2021, and this marks the first cohort in Linden.

He expressed satisfaction with the program’s expansion and the positive impact it has had on participants, who can now apply what they have learned to their businesses.

The face-to-face training sessions were conducted at the Linden Enterprise Network’s conference room, provided at no cost to the participants.

Smith emphasized that the main objective of the annual training program is to empower women entrepreneurs with the skills needed to scale up their businesses and improve their financial management.

The training program will conclude on June 28, 2024, with successful participants set to graduate on July 10, joining a cohort of 150 women entrepreneurs for the year.

During the final face-to-face session, past graduates shared their experiences and the significant impacts the training had on their business ventures.

Participants of the current batch expressed their appreciation for the training.

Kasandra Crawford shared her delight in the program, encouraging others to take full advantage of such opportunities.

Dr. Tianie Small-Greaves highlighted the development of her business over the past seven weeks, and Tonie DeSantos reflected on the practical knowledge gained that she plans to implement in her business.

The next Road to Growth training is scheduled for next year, and women entrepreneurs are encouraged to take advantage of this free, valuable training.
