Linden Town Week 2025 Officially Launched Despite Internal Disputes

February 10, 2025

The Social Development Committee of the Linden Mayor and Town Council officially launched Linden Town Week (LTW) 2025 on Sunday evening at the Linden Theme Park.

The annual celebration, set to take place from April 25 to May 6, will once again be held under the theme “We are One People, One Nation, One Destiny, Linden the heart of Guyana.”

During the launch, Linden Mayor Sharma Solomon announced that this year’s event is expected to surpass previous editions in scale and impact.

He highlighted that LTW 2024 generated approximately $10.5 million over the 10-day period and encouraged residents to use the festival as a platform to showcase local businesses, products, cuisine, and culture.

Founder of LTW, Norville Fredricks, emphasized the importance of incorporating more culture-based activities into the event, urging Lindeners to take pride in their community and heritage.

Regional Vice Chairman of Region 10, Mark Goring, reaffirmed the Regional Democratic Council’s (RDC) commitment to supporting the town’s premier annual celebration.

Meanwhile, Region 10 Tourism Committee Chair Devin Sears noted that accommodation options for visitors have significantly increased, with available rooms rising from 200 last year to 318 and counting.

The Linden Chambers of Industry, Commerce, and Development has also thrown its support behind the event.

Chair Lindon Younge encouraged the community to capitalize on the economic opportunities created by LTW, which continues to attract visitors from across the country.

However, despite the excitement surrounding the launch, the Linden Municipality Administration issued a statement earlier on Sunday distancing itself from the event.

The administration asserted that the decision to proceed with the launch was made without its involvement or approval, signaling ongoing internal disputes within the organizing bodies.
