The 54th anniversary of Linden’s establishment culminated in a vibrant and diverse celebration during Linden Town Week 2024.
Spanning eleven days from April 26 to May 6, under the theme “We are One People, One Nation, One Destiny. Linden! The heart of Guyana,” the event showcased the town’s rich culture and community spirit.
The festivities reached a crescendo with an international concert featuring musical icon Rick Ross, leaving Lindeners and visitors alike impressed with the event’s organization and entertainment value.
Monica Higgins, a Lindener, described the experience as “one of a kind,” echoing the sentiments of many who attended.
The Linden Town Week Committee, in collaboration with the Linden Mayor and Town Council, orchestrated a program that comprised 70% non-fete activities, emphasizing community engagement and cultural enrichment.
Visitors flocked to Linden for the celebrations, with Venetta Caesar expressing her excitement, having traveled all the way from Toronto to partake in the festivities.
Economically, the event proved beneficial, as vendors reported high sales and reasonable support from attendees.
The increased economic activity contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the celebrations, allowing both residents and visitors to enjoy themselves thoroughly.
Looking ahead, the Mayor and Town Council have already begun planning for Linden Town Week 2025, anticipating even greater growth and participation in the annual celebration.
As Linden continues to showcase its heritage and unity through events like Town Week, it solidifies its position as a vibrant and culturally significant town within Guyana.
