Linden to Benefit from New Dental Assistant Training Programme

November 1, 2024

Linden residents are set to benefit from the decentralization of dental services with the launch of a dental assistant training program in Region 10.

This initiative, announced during the Ministry of Health’s Oral Health Month celebrations at the Linden/Georgetown bus park, aims to enhance the availability of skilled dental professionals in the region.

Under the theme “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body,” the event emphasized the importance of oral health through a march involving schoolchildren and healthcare professionals, which culminated in a health fair offering a range of services.

Principal Dental Surgeon Dr. Marvin Monize highlighted the program’s significance, stating that it would make dental care more accessible and enable communities to receive better service.

The dental technician program at the Cheddi Jagan Dental School has also been revived after a 12-year hiatus, further strengthening the country’s oral health capacity.

Regional Chairman Deron Adams applauded the Ministry’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of extending healthcare access to underserved areas.

He commended the dental training initiative as a step forward in ensuring quality healthcare reaches all corners of the country.

The health fair accompanying the event provided residents with services such as dental checkups, teeth whitening and cleaning, blood pressure testing, and more.

This initiative marks a significant stride in addressing oral health challenges in Region 10 and ensuring that Lindeners receive the training and care needed to maintain a healthy smile.
