Prime Minister Mark Phillips has announced the construction of a 15-megawatt solar farm in Linden, Region Ten, with private sector company BOSAI set to contribute an additional 10 megawatts.

Linden will get a combined 0f 25 megawatts of renewable energy by the end of 2026, more than any other town, more than any other region in Guyana,” the PM said.

In addition, the Prime minister says over twelve thousand residents across Regions One, Two, Six, and Nine are expected to benefit from the upgrading of eleven solar photovoltaic mini grids, this year.

Villages like Baramita, Sebai , Karaburi,Kwebanna,Akiwini,Yarakita,  St Monica and Wakapoa, Orealla and Siparuta and Kardarnau will benefit from these projects,” he further explained.

Once completed, these upgrades will extend electricity supply to 116 community and public buildings, including schools, health facilities, and administrative centres.

This year, 13.7 billion dollars has been allocated to the energy sector as the government continues to advance access to a modern, sustainable energy system.
