A major road improvement initiative, valued at $1.3 billion, is currently underway in Linden.
This extensive project, managed by the Public Works Ministry, aims to enhance and expedite commuting for residents across the region.
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, announced that 26 contracts for roadworks have been awarded through the national tendering process.
These projects will span various communities, including Amelia’s Ward, Noitgedacht, Silvercity, Christianburg, Blueberry Hill, Block 22, Wisroc, One Mile, and Canvas City.
Edghill highlighted that local contractors will benefit significantly from this initiative.
The government plans to issue additional tenders in the near future, allowing more local businesses to participate.
Edghill noted that the ongoing assessments by his team are crucial for the successful execution of these roadworks.
The investment in Linden’s infrastructure is part of a broader effort by the government to upgrade Guyana’s road network.
Over the past four years, significant resources have been allocated to improve road conditions across the country.
