The Linden Mayor and Town Council has announced a crackdown on unlicensed food vendors operating near schools in the region.
This decision follows recent inspections that revealed many vendors lacked the necessary food handler’s certificates.
Since the start of the new academic year, environmental officers have conducted visits to thirteen schools in Linden.
These inspections uncovered that numerous vendors serving food at these institutions were not in compliance with food safety regulations.
During a recent statutory meeting, Linden Mayor Sharma Solomon expressed his concern over the issue, highlighting a particular school where all eight vendors were found to be without the required certification.
In response to these findings, the Mayor has directed that vendors be given a five-day period to obtain their food handler’s certificates.
The council is emphasizing the importance of these certifications to ensure hygienic food practices and protect the health of students.
This initiative reflects the council’s commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety in educational environments and ensuring that all vendors meet necessary health regulations.
