Local Mashramani celebrations in Linden officially began on Saturday night with the highly anticipated finals of the Soca Monarch 2025 competition.
Diana Chapman, a talented Lindener, was crowned Soca Queen 2025, marking a highlight of the festivities.
The celebrations are set to culminate on March 2, when Lindeners will take to the streets for the annual Mash parade.
The parade route will be similar to last year’s, starting at the Bayroc community ground, proceeding along the Winifred Gaskin Highway, crossing the Wismar/McKenzie bridge, passing through Five Corners, around Republic Avenue, and finishing at Retrieve ground.
Mark Goring, the Vice Chairman of the Mash 2025 Committee, expressed hopes that some of the floats featured in the Mash Day National Road March would be showcased in Linden’s local parade as well.
In addition to the road march, Linden will host the flag-raising ceremony for Guyana’s 55th Republic anniversary on February 22 at the Linden/Georgetown bus park, starting at 8:00 PM.
The region will also participate in the National Mashramani road march on February 23, with registration for participants still ongoing.
Further celebrations include the children’s road march scheduled for March 7, followed by Kwakwani’s grand road parade on March 22.
The official theme for Mashramani 2025 is “Expressing our Culture and Creativity as One Guyana.”
