Linden Disability Grant Distribution Underway

Jan 22, 2025

Over 600 Lindeners who are on the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s disability register have begun receiving their $35,000 cash grant.

The distribution, which started this week at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Centre, marks the start of a much-awaited initiative announced by President Irfaan Ali in December 2024.

This one-off cash grant is specifically for individuals registered with the Ministry’s Disability Register, and the process has been smooth so far.

Shaneila Murray, Acting Senior Probation Officer of the Linden Office, reported that the distribution has gone well, with recipients encouraged to collect both their new books and cash grants.

Several recipients shared their appreciation for the initiative. Amin Britton noted that the process was very smooth, while Diane Hubbard expressed her gratitude, stating, “It’s a great help to us.”

Others, like Debra Roberts, also mentioned how the grant would have a significant purpose for them.

The distribution will continue at the Egbert Benjamin Conference Centre for the rest of the week and will move to the Bayroc Community Centre on Monday and Tuesday.

This cash grant is seen as a vital support for persons living with disabilities, aimed at improving their quality of life.
