Linden Children Receive Fire Prevention Training

Over 100 children from communities across Linden participated in the “Blaze Busters Fire Safety Camp” hosted by the Guyana Fire Service at the Linden Constabulary Hall on Thursday.

The camp focused on teaching fire prevention techniques and safety procedures.

Fireman Kelwin Yaw from the Linden Fire Station led an interactive session, covering topics such as the dangers of fire starters and electricity, how to seek help during a fire, evacuation procedures, the use of smoke alarms, and emergency contact numbers.

Sub-Officer Fenton Drepaul-Saul from the Linden Fire Station highlighted the importance of the training in reducing fire incidents in the community.

He mentioned that the training will continue, with plans to intensify community sensitization efforts.

Municipal Councilor Alicia Bentick, who played a key role in mobilizing the event, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout and emphasized the need for similar initiatives involving parents.

At the end of the camp, each child received a certificate of participation.

The goal is for attendees to share their knowledge and apply what they learned to prevent fire-related incidents.
