Linden Allocated $235M for New Regional Administrative Building

January 30, 2025

Region Ten has received a significant allocation of 235 million dollars in the 2025 budget for the construction of a new regional administrative building.

This project, which was originally launched in 2017, was delayed after the contract with the initial contractor was terminated in 2020 due to unmet construction deadlines.

The contractor had failed to complete the building within the agreed two-year timeframe, with work only reaching the foundation stage after three years.

Regional Executive Officer (REO) Dwight John expressed his satisfaction with the allocation in this year’s budget, which will allow the project to be completed.

He confirmed that the new building will accommodate the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) as well as several other departments, including Public Works, Administration, Health, and Education.

The current administrative building, which was designed for 80 people, is now overcrowded and inadequate for the growing needs of the region.

John also highlighted that preparations for the construction are underway, with the proposed site being cleared for the new structure.

The REO looks forward to the completion of the building, which will provide better space and facilities for the region’s administrative functions.
