Region Ten welcomed the New Year with a special arrival as Mohanie Sugrim gave birth to the only baby born in the region on January 1.
The healthy baby boy was delivered just after midnight at the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), bringing joy to his family.
At exactly 11:29 p.m. on New Year’s Day, Sugrim, who hails from Soesdyke, delivered her bouncing baby boy weighing 3.39 kilograms.
The family was thrilled to welcome the new addition.
Sugrim expressed her excitement, sharing that the birth was especially meaningful as she now has both a daughter and a son.
“I am grateful… this is my last,” she said.
While the baby is yet to be named, the family is considering the name Anthony, after the father, who is overjoyed by the arrival of their son.
He expressed mixed emotions, saying, “I’m nervous but excited to get a new baby boy on the first day of the New Year.”
Sugrim, who chose to travel to Linden to have her baby at LHC, praised the hospital’s care.
“The care was excellent, the nurses were great, they were more than great,” she noted.
Hospital staff confirmed that the delivery went smoothly, and the baby is in excellent health.
