Approximately 80 residents of Section E Non-Pariel, East Coast Demerara, are set to benefit from the government’s land regularization initiative.
Many of these residents have lived in the area for over 20 years without formal ownership documents, leaving them unable to access proper titles for their homes.
Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues, conducted a consultation with residents, announcing that the process for land regularization would begin shortly.
During the session, Minister Rodrigues explained that an occupational survey had already been completed, documenting 80 structures in the community.
This data has been submitted to the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) to initiate block design.
The next steps include demarcating lots, boundary lines, roads, reserves, and drainage.
The regularization effort is part of the government’s broader strategy to provide equitable access to land and housing.
Since taking office four years ago, the administration has facilitated the regularization of over 1,000 lots, providing security and stability to families across the country.
The initiative at Section E Non-Pariel aims to bring long-term relief to residents who have lived with uncertainty for decades, ensuring they can secure official titles and access resources tied to land ownership.
