The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has pledged comprehensive support to the women’s national team, the Lady Jaguars, as they prepare for the upcoming Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup preliminary clash against the Dominican Republic on February 17.

The match will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Greater Los Angeles, United States.

The Lady Jaguars are aiming to secure a place in Group A of the tournament, where they will face challenging opponents such as the United States, Mexico, and Argentina.

President of the Guyana Football Federation, Wayne Forde, assures that the GFF has implemented a system to ensure the readiness of the senior women’s team for the preliminary matchup.

Forde emphasizes that preparations will take place within California.

The GFF has made additional investments in the Lady Jaguars’ preparation for the tournament, focusing on strengthening the senior women’s program.

Wayne Forde expresses confidence in the abilities of the Lady Jaguars and anticipates a strong performance in their challenging matchup against the Dominican Republic.

Six national teams, including Guyana, Haiti, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Guatemala, will compete in this round after securing their spots through the 2023 Road to Concacaf W Gold Cup.

A victory for the Lady Jaguars in the preliminary clash would secure their place in Group A of the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup, where they will face formidable opponents.

In November, the Lady Jaguars secured a place in the Preliminary Rounds of the tournament by earning 15 points in the Concacaf Road to Gold Cup.

The first-ever Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup is a premier regional competition featuring eight Concacaf national teams alongside four guest teams from CONMEBOL.

As the Lady Jaguars gear up for their Gold Cup journey, the Guyana Football Federation is committed to providing unwavering support for their preparation and performance on the international stage.
