The Kumaka District Hospital in Region One has received a major upgrade with the commissioning of a new General Electric Digital X-ray system.

Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony said the installation marks a major shift from the outdated analog film-based systems that had been in use for decades.

He added that extensive infrastructural and electrical work was completed to support the new unit, including power backups.
Dr. Anthony highlighted that the Ministry of Health has adopted three internationally recognized imaging brands—Siemens, Phillips, and GE—as the national standard for digital radiography.

Staff are currently undergoing training to ensure the equipment is used efficiently and safely.
