Several youths from Kitty in Georgetown have enrolled in skills training programs, including heavy-duty machinery operation, electrical installation, and concrete block making, following a commitment by President Irfaan Ali to enhance the skill sets of the area’s youth.
Government ministers engaged with the youths to discuss potential career paths and the acquisition of new skills.
Minister within the Public Works Ministry, Deodat Indar, encouraged commitment from the youth, promising the establishment of a concrete block-making facility in the community and the donation of a ransom mixer for related activities.
Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sport, Charles Ramson, urged young people to take advantage of the four-month skills training program offered by his ministry.
Following the engagement, several youths signed up for various skills training courses, contributing to their personal and professional development.
The government-led initiative received positive feedback from residents, who expressed appreciation for the efforts to empower youth and promote entrepreneurship in the Kitty area.
Minister of Labour Joseph Hamilton, Minister with responsibility for Public Affairs Kwame McCoy, and technical officials were also present at the engagement.
