Kingston Esplanade officially opened

The Kingston Esplanade, a beloved recreational family area, has been officially inaugurated after undergoing extensive rehabilitation.

This project is part of the national beautification efforts led by First Lady Arya Ali in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works.

The revitalized space boasts significant improvements, including a fully refurbished Bandstand, upgraded tarmac, a newly constructed sanitary block, and two promenades. Additionally, a brand-new play park for children has been added, along with 18 vending units forming an expansive food court. Visitors can also enjoy enhanced lighting and complimentary Wi-Fi services.

First Lady Arya Ali expressed her hope that citizens would cherish and care for this renewed family space. She eagerly anticipates the reintroduction of live performances, including those from the Guyana Police Force steel band. To ensure the area’s safety, the GPF will maintain a 24-hour presence, complemented by security cameras strategically installed in the vicinity.

Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill, who spearheaded the project, emphasized that the enhancements aim to elevate recreational and tourism experiences while facilitating cultural and social initiatives. He commended the efforts of the numerous local contractors who contributed to the project, noting that over 30 small and medium-sized contracts were engaged in the endeavor.

Witnesses to the official opening applauded the significant improvements, recognizing them as a testament to the government’s commitment to upgrading recreational facilities in a safe and comfortable manner.
