KFC Goodwill Series: Carmel & St Benedict’s Secure Impressive Wins

The KFC Goodwill Series kicked off with a bang as overseas teams St. Benedict and Clarendon Colleges delivered commanding performances in their opening fixtures.

Carmel Secondary, along with Chase’s Academic Foundation, also clinched victories in an exciting series of doubleheaders played at the Ministry of Education and Queen’s College grounds.

In the opening match, Trinidad and Tobago’s St. Benedict’s College faced off against Surinamese counterparts VMO. St. Benedict’s dominated the game, with Malachai Webb scoring two quick goals in the 6th and 8th minutes.

Teammates Jeremiah Niles and Josiah Ochoa added to the tally, securing a four-nil lead by the 16th minute.

St. Benedict’s continued their dominance, finishing the first half with an eight-nil lead. Webb and Niles contributed additional goals, ending the match with a nine-to-one victory.

The feature match of the evening witnessed Digicel school football champs Carmel Secondary defeating DC Caesar Fox.

Carmel took the lead in the 16th minute with a well-executed shot from Ian Daniels. Despite both teams testing each other’s defenses, Daniels found the net again in the 43rd minute.

DC Caesar Fox pulled one back just before the break with Antonio Isaacs’ goal in the 45th minute.

The second half remained uneventful, and Carmel Secondary secured a two-to-one win.

Other winners of the day included Chase Academic Foundation, which defeated St. Ignatius five to one, and Jamaica’s Clarendon College, which won three-nil against Bartica Secondary.

The action in the fourth annual KFC Goodwill Series continues on Thursday, with Chase and Bartica facing off, and Clarendon taking on Bartica at Queens College ground.

Later in the evening, St. Benedict’s College will play against VMO, and Carmel Secondary will go head-to-head with DC Caesar Fox at the Ministry of Education ground.

The tournament promises more thrilling matches, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of the participating schools.
