KFC Elite League Resumes with Exciting Double Header

By Travis Seymour

The KFC Elite League resumes this evening with a highly anticipated double header at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Center.

Postponed from Saturday, tonight’s matches feature four teams eager to turn around their fortunes in the fourth season of their league campaign.

The four teams, all currently in the bottom half of the league standings, are determined to raise their game as the second phase of the league kicks off.

The first match of the evening will see Den Amstel facing Monedderlust.

Den Amstel is seventh in the league with three wins from ten matches, while Monedderlust has struggled significantly, securing only two wins in ten games and facing the threat of relegation.

In the second match, Buxton United, who are at the bottom of the ten-team league, will clash with Ann’s Grove.

Both teams are desperate for a win, with Ann’s Grove also having just two victories from their ten matches this season.

The second phase of the league commenced on May 25, featuring ten elite clubs competing in a total of 45 matches set to conclude in August.

The Guyana Defence Force currently leads the standings with eight wins from nine games, tied on 25 points with Slingerz FC, who also boast eight wins and one draw against GDF.

GDF holds the top spot due to their superior goal difference.

Following closely are the Guyana Police Force with eight wins from eleven games, Santos with six wins, and Western Tiger with five wins.

These teams are competing for substantial prize money, with $2,000,000 awarded to the champions, $1,200,000 to the runners-up, and $800,000 to the third-placed team.

The resumption of the KFC Elite League promises thrilling football action as teams strive for better standings and the lucrative prizes at stake.
