Kemol Savory’s composed half-century helped the Guyana Harpy Eagles secure a hard-fought two-wicket victory against the West Indies Academy in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) CG United Regional Super50 Championship on Monday evening at the Brain Lara Cricket Academy in South Trinidad.
The Harpy Eagles’ victory marked their second win in the ongoing tournament.
Sent in to bat first, the West Indies Academy was bowled out for 200 in 45.5 overs.
Nimar Bolden top-scored with 32, while Ackeem Auguste contributed 28, and Rivaldo Clarke added 27, but they struggled to gain any significant momentum against a disciplined bowling attack from the Eagles.
Rampertab Ramnauth led the charge with 3/24, and Junior Sinclair supported well with 3/40 from his 10 overs.
In reply, the Harpy Eagles chased down the target of 201 in 46.4 overs.
Savory anchored the chase with an unbeaten 56, supported by a crucial 50 from Kevlon Anderson and 34 from Matthew Nandu.
Despite a strong bowling performance from Jediah Blades, who took 4/48, and Zishan Motara with 2/43, the Academy bowlers were unable to stop the Eagles from reaching their target.
This victory concludes the Eagles’ Super50 campaign, and they now await the outcomes of the remaining matches to determine their final standing in the tournament.
