The Kashif and Shanghai One Guyana National Futsal Championship will continue on New Year’s Day as the final four teams battle for a spot in the championship final, where a two-million-dollar cash prize awaits the winner.
The semifinal matches will be held on Wednesday, January 3, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
After intense competition with 64 teams, the remaining semi-finalists are Sparta Boss, Back Circle ‘A’, Bent Street ‘A’, and Road Warriors, all vying for the coveted prize.
Bent Street ‘A’ made their way to the semifinals after a series of close victories.
They narrowly defeated Region 9 (2-1), Spaniard (3-2), Stabroek ‘B’ (5-2), and Team Cruel (6-3).
In contrast, Road Warriors were dominant throughout the tournament, securing convincing wins.
They first demolished Foot Steppers 10-2, followed by an 8-3 victory over Victoria Eagles.
Their impressive run continued with a 10-0 win over Ballers United of Berbice and a 9-1 thrashing of Gold Is Money in the quarterfinals.
The first semifinal will feature Sparta Boss against Back Circle ‘A’.
Sparta Boss advanced with strong performances, including a 12-0 victory over Melanie, a 7-4 win over Festival City, a 5-2 victory against Bent Street ‘B’, and a 6-3 triumph over Stabroek Ballers ‘A’.
Back Circle ‘A’, led by the tournament’s top scorer, Bevney Marks, who has netted 22 goals, has been exceptional in their offensive play.
They have scored the most goals in the competition, netting 49 in just four matches.
Their impressive victories include 12-0 and 16-0 routs of Essequibo and Vryheid’s Lust, respectively, and a 5-2 win over North East.
The winners of the One Guyana National Futsal Championship will claim the top prize of two million dollars, while the runners-up will receive one million.
The third and fourth place teams will earn 500,000 and 200,000 dollars, respectively.
Semifinal action kicks off at 8:00 PM on January 3, 2025.
