Guyana’s national under-17 football team, the Junior Jaguars, are currently undergoing intensive training at the Guyana Football Federation’s National Training Centre as they prepare for the upcoming Concacaf Men’s U-17 Qualifiers in Costa Rica.
The tournament, which takes place from February 7 to 16, will determine which teams qualify for the U-17 Men’s World Cup.
Under the guidance of head coach Marco Bonofiglio, the Junior Jaguars are focused on building a strong mentality and improving their technical skills ahead of the competition.
Bonofiglio has emphasized the importance of mental preparedness, particularly for many players who are experiencing their first major international tournament.
Despite the lack of international friendly matches to help fine-tune their skills, the team has been working hard in training sessions to ensure they are ready for the challenges ahead.
Bonofiglio highlighted the team’s determination to perform at their best in the tournament, especially with the pressure of qualifying for the World Cup.
Placed in Group F, the Junior Jaguars will face off against the British Virgin Islands, Saint Maarten, host nation Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Their first match is set to be against Trinidad and Tobago on February 7, and Coach Bonofiglio is keen to ensure that the team executes their game plan effectively throughout the tournament.
The Junior Jaguars are gearing up for a tough opening match, but the team remains confident in their ability to rise to the occasion.
