Guyana Cricket Board’s U17 team secured a commanding win over the USA Tri-State’s U17 team, thanks to a remarkable century by Jonathan Van-Lange.
The USA Tri-State’s under-17 tour of Guyana concluded with a resounding victory for the GCB U17 team, who clinched a 104-run win at the Queen’s College Cricket Ground.
Batting first, the GCB U17 team posted an imposing total of 330 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 40 overs.
Opener Romeo Deonarine laid a solid foundation with a brisk 70 off 57 balls.
However, it was Jonathan Van-Lange who stole the show with a scintillating century, scoring 102 runs from just 89 deliveries, including 10 boundaries and four sixes.
Contributions from Sanjay Algoo (51), Nicholas Shivpersaud (41), and Bruce Vincent (22) bolstered the team’s total.
In response, the USA Tri-State team faced a daunting target of 331 runs but fell short, managing only 226 runs in 32.1 overs.
Saharash Shwethan was the standout performer for the visitors, scoring 124 runs.
However, lack of support from the rest of the batting lineup resulted in their downfall.
The GCB U17 bowlers delivered a commendable performance, with leg spinners Sanjay Algoo and Romeo Deonarine leading the attack. Both claimed three wickets each, restricting the USA Tri-State team and securing the victory for their side.
Overall, the USA Tri-State team played six matches during their tour of Guyana, registering two wins and suffering four defeats.
