The Janet Jagan birth anniversary schoolgirls wind-ball cricket championship kicked off on Monday at the national gymnasium, drawing participants from various schools for a spirited competition.

Minister of Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, was present at the launch and emphasized the profound impact of such activities in fostering stronger individuals.

Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle, expressed the satisfaction of the National Sports Commission in providing young female athletes with opportunities to refine their skills through tournaments.

This tournament, held in honor of Guyana’s first female President, Janet Jagan, commemorates its 31st year since its inception.

Competing for the championship title are teams from various schools including Essequibo Islands Secondary, Good Hope Secondary, Stewartville Secondary, Diamond Primary Top, President’s College, Bladen Hall Secondary, Westminster Secondary, Lancaster Secondary, and Zeeburg Secondary, among others.
