In an exhilarating contest at the LBI Ground on Thursday, the Essequibo Jaguars defeated the Demerara Pitbulls in match 13 of the Guyana Cricket Board’s National T20 League, successfully chasing down a challenging target of 188 runs.
The Pitbulls batted first, posting an impressive total of 188/8 in their allotted overs.
Joshua Persaud (31), Rickey Sargeant (30), and Raymond Perez (26) played key roles in setting a strong target for the Jaguars.
However, the Jaguars responded with determination.
Led by a stellar bowling performance from Myheim Khan, who took 4/33, and solid contributions from Rajiv Ivan (2/41), Ricardo Adams, and Joemal LaFleur (both with a wicket), the Jaguars were in pursuit of an exciting finish.
Despite losing seven wickets, the Jaguars stayed on course for victory, with LaFleur’s 46 and valuable contributions from Adams (33) and Zeynul Ramsammy (30) propelling them toward the target.
In a nerve-wracking finale, the Jaguars reached 188/7 on the final ball, clinching a thrilling win.
The Pitbulls’ bowling attack was led by captain Christopher Barnwell, Floy Joseph, and Clinton Pestano, each taking two wickets.
However, it wasn’t enough to prevent the Jaguars from celebrating a hard-fought victory.
