PPP General Secretary, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, is encouraging members of the Guyanese Diaspora to use online resources when making business inquiries and proposals.
During a recent visit to Canada, Dr. Jagdeo engaged with the Diaspora on ongoing and future developments in Guyana.
A key issue raised was the misconception that individuals must meet with a politician before making an investment.
Dr. Jagdeo clarified this by highlighting the availability of the GO-Invest website, which allows users to inquire about and submit business proposals directly.
Dr. Jagdeo emphasized the government’s efforts to streamline the investment process and make it more efficient and accessible for everyone involved.
He noted that this online approach reduces the need for face-to-face meetings, thereby making the investment process more transparent.
The Diaspora was also briefed on several government measures and interventions designed to drive transformation and encourage investments to further boost the economy.
Dr. Jagdeo explained that the incentive regime is in place to support investors and that the government is working to ensure that everyone understands and benefits from these opportunities.
Recently, the government launched a single window online platform to simplify and centralize all developmental approvals, which can now be processed in approximately 30 to 45 days.
Once an application is submitted, applicants will receive updates about its status via email, further streamlining the process.
Dr. Jagdeo’s message to the Diaspora is clear: Utilize the online resources available to make informed business decisions and contribute to Guyana’s growing economy.
