PPP General Secretary Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo has criticized the opposition for attempting to divert attention from the significant progress made by the government since it returned to power in 2020.
Speaking at a press conference, Jagdeo emphasized that these tactics would ultimately fail, as the government’s focus on improving public infrastructure, healthcare, and education continues to benefit all Guyanese.
He noted that certain media outlets have contributed to the distraction by promoting unverified reports, rather than focusing on the substantial changes happening across the country.
Jagdeo highlighted the government’s achievements, particularly in job creation and the expansion of postsecondary education opportunities, stating that “60,000 people are now working,” compared to the previous administration’s performance.
He urged Guyanese to focus on these tangible improvements rather than being misled by “scandals and rumours.”
The General Secretary also reiterated the government’s dedication to transparency and accountability, especially in reforming the procurement system and preventing public servants from using their positions for personal gain.
