IPED Expands with New Branch and Focus on Entrepreneurship Growth

January 22, 2025

The Institute of Private Enterprise Development (IPED) is taking significant steps to expand its services in 2025, with plans to open a new branch in Soesdyke along the Linden Highway.

The expansion aims to cater to the growing demand for micro and small business support in the East Bank corridor.

This was shared by IPED’s Business Development and Marketing Manager, Robert Williams, in an exclusive interview with NCN News.

Williams highlighted that 2023 was a successful year for IPED, which added over 4,800 clients to its portfolio and exceeded its financial objectives.

The organization also disbursed 4.3 billion dollars in loans and created over 8,600 jobs, contributing to the growth of small businesses across the country.

As part of its expansion strategy, IPED is committed to engaging more micro and small entrepreneurs and is ramping up its social media presence.

The institute will utilize platforms such as TikTok and Facebook to reach a broader audience and ensure more people are aware of its services.

Williams stressed the importance of increasing IPED’s footprint and educating the public about the opportunities it provides.

In addition to its expansion, IPED is also focused on enhancing its support for entrepreneurs through capacity building and technical assistance.

Recognizing the rapid growth of Guyana’s economy and the increasing need for skilled workers, IPED aims to provide tailored support to meet the demand for technical services.

For the first time in its history, IPED will offer grants to assist young entrepreneurs with business registration, legal matters, and the acquisition of necessary tools and equipment to move their businesses forward.

Williams further emphasized the institute’s commitment to leveraging technology, with plans to implement a state-of-the-art integrated loan management system to improve service delivery.

With the opening of the Soesdyke branch and continued dedication to fostering entrepreneurship, IPED aims to support Guyana’s burgeoning economy and create lasting opportunities for micro and small business owners across the country.
