Inter-Guiana Games 2023: Suriname, Guyana, and French Guiana Officially Sign Protocol

In an eagerly awaited development, the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) for 2023 are officially set to take place later this month, with the signing of the protocol by the three participating countries—Suriname, Guyana, and French Guiana.

The signing ceremony, which took place at a press briefing in Paramaribo, Suriname, was attended by sports officials from each nation.

Gordon Touw Ngie Tjouw, the Director of Sport for Suriname, expressed that while the 2022 games were successful, some changes were deemed necessary to enhance the professionalism of the event.

Steve Ninvalle, the Director of Sport for Guyana, expressed his satisfaction that the games will continue and highlighted the collaborative efforts involved.

He further emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship that characterizes the IGG. Ninvalle anticipates that Guyana will be competitive in the various disciplines while fostering a spirit of friendly competition.

The 2023 Inter-Guiana Games are scheduled to take place from November 17 to the 19, featuring eight disciplines: chess, futsal, football, lawn tennis, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and athletics.

Sports enthusiasts and participants from the three Guiana countries are looking forward to the exciting competitions that will unfold during this highly anticipated regional event.
