Incentivizing Local Talent Key to Guyana’s Digital Economy Growth

As Guyana undergoes a major digital transformation, retaining local talent is essential to drive this growth, says CEO of V75 Inc., Eldon Marks.

Speaking on the latest episode of Energy Perspectives, a weekly podcast leading up to the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, Marks emphasized the importance of nurturing local tech talent to fuel the nation’s evolving digital economy.

Marks highlighted that while Guyana has naturally occurring tech talent, there is a lack of incentives to encourage these skilled individuals to remain in the country and contribute to the development of a robust tech ecosystem.

He stressed the need for targeted support and resources to help young tech enthusiasts gain the skills required to manage and innovate within tech businesses.

Acknowledging the government’s ongoing ICT training initiatives and hackathon events that showcase young talent, Marks called for expanded exposure for young people within the tech industry.

He advocated for the introduction of large-scale tech conferences in Guyana, which would provide vital opportunities for tech entrepreneurs to network, gain visibility, and access new prospects in the industry.

Marks further noted that an international-grade tech conference in Guyana would serve as a significant catalyst for incentivizing local talent and fostering the development of the tech sector.

Such events would be pivotal in aligning Guyana’s local tech industry with global standards and trends.

In collaboration with the Guyana Energy Conference, V75 Inc. is offering software solutions, including a dedicated app and digital networking spaces, to enhance the conference experience.

The upcoming Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo will take place from February 18 to 21 at the Georgetown Marriott Hotel.

This initiative aims to ensure that the local tech and software industries are not only prepared to adapt to Guyana’s rapidly growing digital economy but are also leading the charge in driving innovation and economic growth.
