Inaugural One Guyana Cricket Competition Thrills Region Six

The Port Mourant Community Centre ground on the Corentyne was abuzz with excitement as the inaugural One Guyana Cricket Competition unfolded in Region Six.

Teams battled it out on the field while spectators enjoyed a day filled with cricketing action and lively festivities.

Representing Linden, Old Broom Lounge and Bankari Warriors emerged as the champions in the male and female categories, respectively.

Organized by the PPP/C District #6, the event drew participants and officials, including Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh and Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat.

Minister Singh emphasized the government’s commitment to sports infrastructure development, highlighting investments in upgrading sports grounds across the region.

He announced plans for further improvements, including the installation of lighting and facility upgrades.

Minister Bharrat expressed gratitude to the enthusiastic spectators for their unwavering support, noting the importance of community engagement in sporting events.

The lively atmosphere, competitive matches, and community involvement made the inaugural One Guyana Cricket Competition a resounding success, setting the stage for future events to celebrate sports and unity in Region Six.
