This pledge was reaffirmed by Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, during a gathering with residents of Amelia’s Ward on Sunday night.

In the realm of education, Minister Edghill highlighted the increase in the “Because We Care” cash grant to $45,000, inclusive of a $5,000 uniform grant.

Expressing appreciation for the dedication of the nation’s educators, he assured that they would also benefit from these enhancements.

Recognizing the impact of vision on academic performance, the government is committed to improving the vision of children and pensioners.

Minister Edghill announced initiatives to provide assistance for vision-related issues, including financial support of $15,000 and the introduction of vouchers worth $8,000 for cervical cancer testing among women.

He encouraged women to avail themselves of the HPV vaccine to prevent cancer.

Additionally, Minister Edghill announced the introduction of telemedicine, a technological advancement aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and efficiency in remote areas.

In support of sports development, the Minister disclosed that $1 billion has been allocated for the enhancement of community grounds.

Furthermore, he reminded residents that Value Added Tax (VAT) has been removed from sports equipment to facilitate easier access for sports enthusiasts.
