Improved Living Conditions for Low-Income Families as Four Homes Handed Over

Good Hope and Lusignan, East Coast of Demerara, witnessed a significant improvement in living conditions for four low-income families as they received keys to their new two-bedroom core homes.

The homes were officially handed over by Minister within the Ministry of Housing and Water, Susan Rodrigues.

These homes were built under the Adequate Housing and Urban Accessibility Programme (AHUAP), a vital initiative funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The AHUAP is a crucial component of the government’s housing drive, with a specific focus on providing housing solutions to the most vulnerable sections of society.

Minister Rodrigues emphasized that the AHUAP aims to enhance the quality of life for approximately 360 low-income families, bringing them closer to achieving the dream of owning a decent and secure home. The government is committed to addressing the housing needs of its citizens, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The housing ministry’s ongoing efforts include the construction of an additional 70 core homes in targeted communities within Region Four.

These endeavors reflect the government’s dedication to uplifting the living conditions of low, moderate, and high-income earners across the country.

The handover of these new core homes marks a significant step towards providing better housing options and improved living standards for families in need.
