Improved Healthcare Access for Region One

This week, healthcare access in Region One took a significant leap forward as the communities of Warapoka, Assakata, Barama, and Unity Grant received new transportation resources.

Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, who holds parliamentary responsibility for Region One, handed over an ATV and a Boat & Engine to support healthcare services in these remote areas.

Toshao of Warapoka, Jeremy Boyal, who also serves on the National Toshao’s Council, expressed his gratitude for the intervention, noting that the new transportation will drastically reduce travel time, allowing residents to access medical care faster.

“The boat will reduce travel time, so residents will have better, faster access to improved medical care,” Toshao Boyal stated.

In addition to healthcare improvements, the region is experiencing growth in other sectors.

Toshao Boyal highlighted ongoing projects, including the drilling of a water well and the renovation of the local school, which is set to be completed by September.

The government’s commitment to delivering an enhanced healthcare system is evident through recent investments, with $129.8 billion allocated this year for transforming the health sector.
