With the goal of providing Guyanese families with a recreational space and promoting local tourism, Hyde Park Zoo Sanctuary and Tropical Garden, situated in Land of Canaan, East Bank of Demerara, is set to open its doors in the latter part of this year.
The locally owned family business and investment, Hyde Park Zoo, began its journey in 2009 on 200 acres of land.
Over the years, the project has evolved into a three-phased endeavor, comprising a Zoo, a Park, and a Resort.
According to Mandy Lall, the Marketing Director of HPZ, the facility is now in its final stages of completion before opening to the public.
Lall shared in an interview with NCN News that the project is currently 95% complete, with the team working diligently to put the finishing touches in place.
She estimated that by the latter part of this year, Hyde Park Zoo will be ready for its grand opening.
Once operational, Hyde Park Zoo promises a host of amenities, attractions, and animal-friendly activities for visitors to enjoy.
Lall highlighted the unique opportunity for guests to view animals in a close-to-natural environment, emphasizing the park’s commitment to conservation.
The zoo will showcase animals rescued and rehabilitated, offering visitors insight into their stories and journeys.
Upon opening, Hyde Park Zoo will provide guided tours, internships, and volunteer positions for individuals interested in engaging further with the facility.
As Hyde Park Zoo prepares to welcome its first visitors, anticipation grows for the recreational haven it will offer to Guyanese families and tourists alike.
