Over the weekend, hundreds of Lindeners came together to participate in a breast cancer awareness walk, demonstrating their support for the cause.
The event, organized annually by the Women on the Move Organisation, saw participants don various shades of pink as they marched from Burnham Drive to Republic Avenue, uniting to raise awareness for breast cancer.
Among the notable attendees were Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, and Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister, Kwame McCoy.
Dr. Anthony stressed the critical importance of early breast screening in the fight against breast cancer, emphasizing that it should be a regular practice.
During the event, Dr. Anthony also announced that the Linden Hospital is set to receive a mammogram machine, a significant advancement that will enhance healthcare services in Region 10.
In addition to breast cancer awareness, Dr. Anthony urged women to take proactive measures against cervical cancer, highlighting its prevalence as the second most common cancer among women in the country.
As a highlight of the event, prizes were awarded for various categories, including the best banner, largest contingent, best chant, and largest community group.
The Women on the Move Organisation, a non-profit and non-governmental organization founded by Judy Noel 23 years ago, continues to play a vital role in raising awareness and advocating for women’s health in the region.
