Humanity First Guyana’s Medical Outreach Draws Hundreds for Free Consultations and Care

Hundreds of Guyanese benefitted from Humanity First Guyana’s recent three-day medical outreach, where consultations and care were provided free of charge. .

Fadh Peerzada, Director of Marketing for Humanity First Guyana, highlighted that this medical outreach was conducted in collaboration with the organization’s USA arm.

The event saw the participation of medical students and practitioners from the United States, who volunteered their services to the local community.

The range of consultation services offered during the outreach was extensive, encompassing eye examinations, blood pressure and sugar testing, blood donation, dental services, counseling, and screenings for sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV.

Peerzada shared encouraging statistics from the outreach, noting that a total of 430 individuals were attended to over the three-day period.

This turnout reflects the significant impact and importance of such initiatives in addressing healthcare needs within the community.

In addition to providing direct medical assistance, the visiting team of medical professionals also engaged in an internship session facilitated by the Georgetown Public Hospital.

This session, involving a 12-member student group, provided valuable hands-on experience and learning opportunities for budding medical professionals.

Two medical students, Matthew Morcos and Haroon Lughmani, expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the outreach.

Morcos described the experience as humbling and rewarding, while Lughmani emphasized the educational and altruistic aspects of the initiative.

Humanity First Guyana, a sister agency of the international organization operating in 60 countries, has been active in Guyana since 2005.

Their commitment to serving the community through initiatives like the medical outreach demonstrates their dedication to promoting health and well-being.

As the outreach concluded successfully, it stands as a testament to the positive impact that collaborative efforts and volunteerism can have in addressing healthcare challenges and improving the lives of individuals in Guyana.
