In an exciting display of skill and sportsmanship, Huist Dieren Primary emerged victorious in the Future Warriors Essequibo Primary Schools Tape-ball tournament, held at the Imam Bacchus Sports Club ground.
Organized by FL Sport in collaboration with ExxonMobil, the primary school event showcased young cricketing talent from the region.
On Sunday, three matches were played in the round-robin final, with Huist Dieren securing victory through the net run rate route.
The action-packed matches saw Mainstay Primary losing to Eight of May Primary by five wickets in the first encounter.
However, Eight of May bounced back in the second match, defeating Huist Dieren Primary by six wickets.
In a thrilling finale, Huist Dieren Primary clinched the title by defeating Eight of May Primary by 10 wickets in their rematch.
Co-Director of FL Sport, John Ramsingh, expressed satisfaction with the tournament’s success, noting the high level of competition and sportsmanship displayed by all participating teams.
Ramsingh also commended ExxonMobil for their support, emphasizing the significant impact their partnership has had on the development of youth cricket across the country.
Looking ahead, the top teams from the three counties will compete in the tournament’s next phase in September.
The winners will have the honor of being adopted by the local franchise, Guyana Amazon Warriors.
