In an effort to support citizens in building their homes, 38 residents from Region Seven received steel and cement subsidy vouchers during a housing outreach event held at the Bartica Community Centre Ground.
Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, emphasized the importance of the steel and cement initiative, designed to assist low-income families in constructing their houses.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to extending this benefit to Region Seven as part of its broader housing support program.
During the outreach event, several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the housing subsidy.
Jennifer Kryenhoff, one of the beneficiaries, thanked Minister Croal for addressing the housing needs of her family, which included repairing their home.
Another beneficiary, Iver Melville, expressed happiness and appreciation upon receiving the voucher, highlighting the significance of the moment for him and his family.
Shawn Griffith, another beneficiary, expressed satisfaction with the government fulfilling its promises and providing support through the subsidy program.
Since its inception in October 2022, approximately 1,096 vouchers have been distributed to Guyanese across various regions in the country, including Bartica.
The initiative aims to empower citizens to build their homes and improve their living conditions, contributing to overall community development.
