Hopetown to Host National Emancipation Festival in 2025, Says President Ali

President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali revealed that Hopetown, West Coast Berbice, will be the location for the 2025 National Emancipation Festival.

During the village’s Emancipation celebrations last night, the President emphasized the significance of reflecting on the strength and perseverance of the Afro-Guyanese community.

He highlighted plans for a large-scale event aimed at uniting people in celebration of their heritage.

To ensure the success of the festival, President Ali explained that a committee will be established, bringing together villagers, government officials, and cultural groups to collaborate on the planning.

He stressed the importance of villages like Hopetown as centers for preserving and passing down cultural traditions to future generations.

The President also reinforced his commitment to working closely with every village to tackle challenges and promote progress.

He called for continued unity and peace across the country, emphasizing that a society free from hatred and fear is essential for true development.

Following his official address, President Ali joined the villagers, engaging with them as they celebrated the Emancipation festivities.
