Linden’s Mayor, Sharma Solomon, has voiced frustration over the delay in setting up an ATM facility on the Wismar shore.
The delay, he says, stems from avoidable hiccups encountered during the process.
Town Clerk Lennox Gasper revealed that despite a site visit conducted by officials from Citizens Bank Limited and members of the Council, the bank has requested the drafting of a policy before proceeding with the installation.
Gasper stated that the Council will initiate the drafting process, awaiting approval from the Administration to proceed.
However, Mayor Solomon expressed dissatisfaction with the current pace of progress.
Mayor Solomon highlighted a perceived lack of reciprocity from the Council in response to the letter sent to the bank.
He emphasized the need for more proactive engagement to expedite the process.
It has been revealed that the Council’s initial request lacked sufficient information, requiring further details to be provided to the bank for the request to be honored.
Mayor Solomon indicated that once the necessary steps are taken, including the receipt of a sample letter and subsequent communication with the bank, Wismar will soon be equipped with an ATM machine.
The delay in installing the ATM facility has raised concerns among residents and stakeholders, particularly regarding the accessibility of financial services in the area.
Efforts are underway to address the issues hindering the installation process, with both the Council and the bank working towards a resolution.
