The reopening of the Helena One and Two Cricket Ground was filled with excitement as the community gathered for a day of sports, enjoyment, and camaraderie.
The event featured thrilling cricket matches and introduced new activities such as mini-golf and archery, attracting numerous eager participants.
Scores of residents flocked to the newly rehabilitated ground on Sunday, where the outfield had been enhanced by Nexgen Golf’s equipment and maintenance team.
Alongside cricket matches, attendees engaged in dominoes, darts, and card games, but the mini-golf and Pro Archers activities particularly captured the crowd’s attention.
Aleem Hussain, President of the Guyana Golf Association, was present with 11-time Guyana Golf champion Avinash Persaud and pro golfer Asroodeen Shaw, who provided demonstrations and guidance to participants.
The ProArchers team, led by Narda Mohamed-Mangra, Anand Mangra, and Dwain Albert, also engaged with the audience.
The day featured competitive events, with De Hoop Sports Club winning the fundraising cricket match, while the Helena Ground Management Committee triumphed in the exhibition match.
De Hoop Sports Club also secured first place in the domino competition.
The event received sponsorship from various organizations, including the Guyana Golf Association, Premier Insurance, H. Nauth & Sons, KK Gas Station, Sterling Products Ltd, Roraima Airways, Guyana Beverages Inc, ProArchers, and Nexgen Golf Academy.
