Residents of Monkey Mountain in Region Eight recently benefitted from a variety of free medical services provided by the Ministry of Health, fulfilling a commitment made by President Dr. Irfaan Ali during his visit to the hinterland community on August 14, 2024.
The initiative included eye care, dental care, and cervical cancer screening as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access in remote regions.
During his visit, President Ali pledged that the Ministry of Health would deliver these essential services to the residents, ensuring immediate support for their healthcare needs.
The eye care program, which included screenings and free spectacles through a voucher system, was one of the key services offered, providing near-instant access to vision correction for those in need.
In addition to eye care, the outreach included a dental program aimed at improving oral health, along with the introduction of the HPV vaccination and screening program to combat cervical cancer.
This initiative, launched earlier this year, is part of a broader government strategy to improve preventative healthcare across the country.
The Ministry of Health reported that the residents of Monkey Mountain expressed gratitude for the services provided during the outreach, which brought much-needed medical care directly to their community.
