Harpy Eagles, Red Force Joint Top in CWI Regional Four-Day Championship

The Guyana Harpy Eagles and the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force are tied at the top of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Four-Day Championship standings after dominant performances in the opening round.

The defending champions, Harpy Eagles, made a strong start to their campaign with a decisive ten-wicket victory over the Barbados Pride at Providence.

With 17 points, the Guyanese side sits comfortably in second place, tied with the Red Force.

Jamaica Scorpions and Leeward Islands Hurricanes follow closely behind with 16 points each, while the four teams that suffered first-round defeats are yet to get on the board.

In round one, the Red Force crushed the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC), winning by an innings and 75 runs.

Meanwhile, the Scorpions secured a dominant 195-run victory over the Windward Islands Volcanoes.

The Hurricanes registered the biggest win of the round, thrashing the West Indies Academy by 402 runs.

The regional tournament resumes on Wednesday, February 5, with the Harpy Eagles taking on CCC at Providence.

Elsewhere, the Hurricanes will clash with the Scorpions at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, while the Pride will seek redemption against the West Indies Academy.

As defending champions, the Harpy Eagles aim to secure their third consecutive title in the tournament.
