During the commissioning of the first water refilling plant in Linden, Chief Executive Officer of GWI Shaik Baksh urged residents to make full use of the facility.

He pointed out that over the past five years over one billion dollars has been spent to improve water facilities in the Region.

“Wisroc, we are doing a lot of work now to upgrade the facility at Wisroc and we are doing a lot of improvement work also at Mc Kenzie; on the three treatment plants.  On this side now you have Amelia’s Ward, a lot of work going on here, Right now a contractor should be completing those works by the end of this month. Two filters are clogged up and we are putting in, rehabilitating two filters here,” he said.

Baksh also announced plans to drill a new well in the Housing area, Phase 4 Amelia’s Ward and set up another bottling plant.

The CEO said that equally important is the decommissioning of the LPC plant noting that residents will be serviced from the wells.
