After four weeks of strike action by teachers, citizens across Guyana have expressed relief and hope as educators prepare to return to the classroom tomorrow, Wednesday.

Speaking to residents on the streets, NCN News gathered a range of reactions regarding the end of the teachers’ strike.

Delon Jarvis, a concerned citizen, remarked on the prolonged absence of teachers from classrooms, expressing relief that they are finally returning.

He acknowledged the necessity for teachers to advocate for their rights while emphasizing the importance of children’s education.

Ulita Norton, another citizen, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the role of the government in resolving the strike and ensuring the well-being of both teachers and parents.

She expressed happiness at the prospect of teachers’ return, highlighting the collective concern among parents for their children’s education.

Abdul Latif, known as “Pen Man,” underscored the economic impact of the strike on businesses, stressing the importance of teachers’ return for the community’s overall well-being.

He urged the government to address teachers’ grievances promptly and fairly.

Henk Wilkinson, a concerned parent, emphasized the positive impact of teachers’ return on students, particularly those preparing for upcoming exams.

He expressed relief that his son and other students would benefit from the presence of their teachers during this critical period.

Ninawattie, also known as Norma, emphasized the need for respect and fair treatment of teachers, recognizing their essential role in shaping students’ futures.
